Ethical Cloud Lingers On
Tim Mahoney's (D-FL) $121,000 Payoff to Alleged Mistress

Mahoney is the guy who replaced Mark Foley. Look for as much press on this matter that Foley received. Oh wait, good luck on that happening. Of course, if Mahoney were a Republican, we'd all be deaf from the horns-a-blowin' and trumpets-a-blarin' from the media - like they did with Foley.

A Google News search at 14:00 today returns 1,288 hits for Tim Mahoney and 2,271 for Mark Foley.

I also followed up on what I blogged in March.

As of today, a Google News search shows 811 hits for Eliot Spitzer but 2178 for Larry Craig. Kwame Kilpatrick returns 2800 hits. So, I was right that the Spitzer stories would number less than Larry Craig but I was surprised to see Kilpatrick outdo Craig.

That jumped to 1,574. And the Mark Foley thing happened months ago, so it's piled up quite a few stories.

LOL

'Kwame Kilpatrick'

I was thinking of taking some graduate level statistics but now I'm not sure, when it's obviously better just to do a questionable sample and then jump to a conclusion you wanted to anyway.

BTW, attempting to s3x0r impressionable teenagers in one's employ =/= cheating on spouse. (One of them is worse.)

Oh, come now, how do you know what kind of complex statistical model I drew? I merely gave an answer without showing my work, that's all; and I was right: Craig stories would outnumber Spitzer stories found by Google News by election time; that was my postulate. I was wrong about the number of Craig stories versus Kilpatrick, though.

Why haven't the Spitzer stories piled up? Again, I won't bother showing my work and just give the answer: Eliot is a Democrat and we have a big election in three weeks.

Yes. But if party affiliations were reversed, then we would have a different spin from the media. You know, the same media who inflates and touts Troopergate but doesn't bother to investigate why (and who they are or are connected to) Palestinian refugees have $33K to donate to BHO.

You didn't. You used very slipshod sampling practices. There are whole books on taking samples correctly, btw.

Yes. But if party affiliations were reversed, then we would have a different spin from the media.

This isn't a problem since, generally speaking, Democrats don't have the same festering psychological wounds as Republicans (especially social conservatives), which is why they don't write bizarre porno novels and try to molest underage employees.

You know, the same media who inflates and touts Troopergate but doesn't bother to investigate why (and who they are or are connected to) Palestinian refugees have $33K to donate to BHO.

He returned every penny of that money and, until I find out that the Palestinians in question are criminals or something, I'm not going to assume that they are.

And, regardless, that and 'Troopergate' are nowhere near as bad as Paleskin trying to get books banned from a library, which is way over the line.

From what I've read, she didn't want to ban any books. She had asked about removing some books from the library. Removing books from a library is not the same as banning them. For example, I own many books that have been stamped "discarded" by various libraries. I wonder if those persons who made those decisions to remove those books were also accused to trying act as a censor. One of those books, Fahrenheit 451, does appear on banned book lists. Maybe I'll call the Ocean County Library, Upper Shores Branch, today and accuse them of banning books.

Update: NYTimes archive search: 222 stories about Mark Foley from Oct. 1 to Nov. 6, 2006. Tim Mahoney from Oct. 1 to Oct. 22: 5.

lul

Can anyone say 'seditious'?

I trust John McCain's judgment as opposed to the hyperbole.
