The MSM has reached one of their main objectives. It appears things are gloomy with no hope or opportunity for improvement. This is a major objective for the MSM on their quest to get a Democrat in the White House in 2009. After years of bleating how bad things are and that the only person who has any say in how you live your life is President Bush, the results are pouring in. It's bad. Your life is terrible. With Bush in power, you cannot achieve your goals. You cannot life your life the way you want. You have the urge to spend on your money on iPods, Plasma screen TV's, designer clothes, and eating out at restaurants every night. You are entitled to a $40,000 car no matter how much it costs you per month and you are entitled to a 3,000 square foot house and if you're "broke" after making the payments, it must be Bush's fault you cannot afford everything you want. Your desire to save money for the future is squashed because you gotta have it now. Gimme. Gimme. Gimme. Mine. Mine. Mine. Now. Now. Now. Freedom of Speech is a myth. People are jailed by the thousand every day for criticizing the President. People are arrested daily for going to a church of their choice. There is no opportunity here. Michael Dell, Bill Gates, and Oprah Winfrey were born billionaires and didn't have to work at all to get where they are. Yup. It's awful here. You know what? The poll is right. A culture of ingratitude, decadence, and entitlement is definitely on the wrong track.
This guy hits the nail on the head:
Made in the USA: Spoiled Brats
I don't know about the whole of your exaggeration, but you're right about most Americans (including the President himself, and Bush twins, and indeed most of the Bush family, as is already well known) are a bunch of rude and rotten cock-ups. Most of us go through some phase of shallow materialism and self-interest, but this usually dissipates by the time you're of age to contend in Presidential elections (i.e, over the hill). Usually, I said.
Anyway, I discussed with one of my friends earlier, a fellow CS student, and we both agreed that there's no way to deal with a bunch of people who are content to live their lives in a booze and drug-induced haze and then cite Thuh Holy Bah-Bul when they tell us they don't believe in evolution.
Ha det!
There is no opportunity here. Michael Dell, Bill Gates, and Oprah Winfrey were born billionaires and didn't have to work at all to get where they are.
I was about to laugh at that remark until I realized the story of Bill Gates is the stuff of the Horatio Alger stories: a strapping young lad who crawled up from dire poverty to a wealth of three kings' ransom by virtue of persistence, moxie, grit...AND completely original quality software. At least the Roman Empire knew how to do a damn good engineering job.
"Homo homini lupus", as they say...
Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S. yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don't have and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.
Not according to the UN.
Anyway, it would certainly be nice if you formulated your own opinions, by having experiences in the real world, instead of recursively enumerating as gospel every bit of drivel that comes down from the WND RSS feed.
Dang it, I forgot that was a WorldNetDaily article. I must have seen the link somewhere else. I don't subscribe to WorldNetDaily's RSS. Most, if not all, the RSS I subscribe to is on the right of this page. Honestly I don't read WND but some of these crazy right-wing sites sometimes must to link to articles there.
Update: I found how I came across the WND link - from Snopes.com. Besides, I looked into it, WND doesn't have an RSS feed.
