Be careful what you wish for...

because sometimes you get it.

"Automaton Casey programmed and awaiting instructions, Mr. Reid."

It's obvious that the voters in PA did not watch the debates. Plus, somehow, Casey's "I'm not Santorum" campaign was able to pull out a win; unlike Kerry's "I'm not Bush" campaign in 2004.

I think Santorum would have won this year if he had endorsed Toomey in 2004. First, Toomey would have won both the primary and the election if he had a Santorum endorsement and, thus, as Senator, Toomey would have done more campaigning than Specter did for Santorum this year. Did Specter do anything? Second, Rick would not have had voters vote for Casey because of his lack of a Toomey endorsement. So, Rick, this is partially your fault, not because of your opinions and beliefs, but mostly because you did not support Toomey.

Here's to (clink) six years of, well, whatever Casey said he would do. Again, if you missed the debates, don't worry, he didn't say anything there either, except for getting some facts wrong and showing an unwillingness to answer the questions.

I don't think Casey is all that great by any means, but Santorum is^H^Hwas just a dumbass.

Here he gives a lame retroactive justification for Iraq:

"As the hobbits are going up Mount Doom, the Eye of Mordor is being drawn somewhere else. It's being drawn to Iraq and it's not being drawn to the U.S." (And I'm sure the people in Iraq are just thrilled that the veritable Lidless Eye is fixed on their country.)

Nu, a Tolkien fan? Then I wonder if he ever considers what Yavanna Kementári would think of his environmental voting record. After all, it was she who said: "But the kelvar can flee or defend themselves, whereas the olvar that grow cannot. And among these I hold trees dear."

She whined like a lieberal crybaby to Manwë until she found out that Eru would appoint the Ents to be guardians of the olvar. What a bitch. Her name even means 'Giver of Fruits'; I guess the fruits in question are the wimpy libruls who think keeping the Earth in good shape is more important than profits for oil companies.

Say what you want about Santorum, but he is not dumb. Casey paused and stumbled during the debates. He did not know the issues and answered questions with generalizations. When he did throw some numbers out there, Santorum corrected him. PA voters really dropped the ball on this one.

At least the rapist running for the Dems in the 15th congressional district race didn't win. :)

Another thing about Casey - on his campaign signs it said "A New Direction" and they had a graphic road that culminated with an arrow. Anyone living in PA knows that a road is bad analogy. He's from Scranton, too. The roads in his area like 380 and 80 are a mess. Let us not forget the road constriction (not a typo) near Hamburg on 78. Then there's 79 out west, that interstate is always around 25% under construction. Years ago 79 had the dubious distinction of having the highest percentage of road under construction; probably still does because I was on it last month I was *shocked* to see construction just past Carnegie; which, of course, was the exit I needed. So, I took the detour which was five miles down to the next exit and then 5 miles back through Heidelburg.

It's a new direction alright; one constantly under construction with detours, delays, and closings. I have no doubt his term will mirror the fine roads in PA.

I have an idea that will satisfy both the Earth huggers and the oil/gas lubbers...raise taxes to 89% and split the extra revenue between the Big Environment and Big Oil! Big Environment can use the revenue to a) house the citizens displaced by reclamation efforts, b) lobby to get more laws passed regarding what citizens can/can't do in their own houses and yards, for the sake of protecting the Earth, and c) campaign for more tax dollars to fulfill a) and b) above. Big Oil can use the money however it wants - no interference from the government! (Although, we sincerely hope it's used to invest in alternative technologies that would have us driving waste-free cars by the year 3162)

The point is, we would have a balanced and equitable solution that both extremes can agree on. Think of the other benefits! The Dems would have a much larger base who would have to live on government assistance, and the Reps would have an excuse to build bigger jails to hold the inevitable swell in the criminal population!

I always figure, you should try to please the nuts on both sides, since you can always protect yourself from the non-nuts.

We have an $8.5 trillion debt, and counting, so we may as well be good blokes and shoulder some of that financial burden for any (potential) future generations.

Maybe if we start teaching the next generations things like math, science, history, and literature instead of PC-laden garbage, they'll be able to deal with future problems.

Instead, it's pacify, "no one wins," everybody passes, exit exams are discriminatory, you're entitled to cell phones, Playstation 3's, and your own car at 16, we all feel good, until the devil comes to collect....

Verily. It is worth notice that of two of the Presidents responsible for this massive national debt, one allowed astrology to inform his most critical decisions and the other (perhaps both) believes in the literal Biblical Creation, which allegedly occurred only a few thousand years ago.

The former of these two also ignored AIDS because it appeared only to affect the queers. Had he been paying attention in biology class, he might have learned that there are many, many, many of God's creatures that practice homosexual behavior to varying degrees.
